Arklow Coastcare: preserving our beaches and environment

Arklow Coastcare consists of a group of volunteers from the Arklow and County Wicklow region whose aim it is to involve local people and community groups in caring for their local coastal environment and promoting and supporting safe enjoyable conservation activities, such as beach and coast clean-ups , dune maintenance, awareness raising and practical countryside tasks.

With its beautiful North and South beaches and neighbouring Brittas Bay Beach and Clogga beach, located just outside of the town, Arklow offers miles of unspoiled beach walks.

The beaches and dunelands of Arklow are harbouring some protected foreign species of flora, believed to have been arrived in Arklow trough the trading vessels which once visited Arklow Harbour before the decline of the port.
