Over the past year Arklow Coastcare have collected over 50 different plants on Arklow's North and South Beach - including 3 rare species. Amongst the many plants some non-native to Ireland we have found: Scentless Mayweed, Bush Vetch, Wild Carrot, Black Medic, Marram Grass, Ribwort Plantain, Yarrow, Fumitory, Sea Spurge, Red Clover, Kidney Vetch, Sea Bindweed, Chickweed, Buck's-Horn Plantain,Hawkweed, Bluebell, Mugwort (Rare), Lady’s Bedstraw, Cat’s Ear, Horsetail, Pyramid Orchid, Pepperwort, Horned Poppy (Rare), Glasswort, Gorse, Silverweed, Mallow, Knapweed, Restharrow, Montbretia, Creeping Buttercup, Coltsfoot, Buck’s Horn Plantain, Yarrow, Fumitory, Sea Spurge
The Arklow beach and dune lands harbours many birds. Some of the birds include: the little gull, red-throated diver, gulliemot, manx shearwater, razorbill, common tern, kittiwake, gannet and fulmarOccasionally, between June and September , Rissos Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises and Seals can be spotted in the sea. |

Fauna and Flora
